HISTORY DEPARTMENT

 1.Introduction/ General information:

The history department at St. Henry’s College Kitovu is an active and vibrant department. The subject is compulsory for all learners at O-level and one of the best done subjects in the National exams (UNEB) with 96% of our candidates usually passing at destination level.

2. Staffing:

The history department is endowed with a well trained man power with both ladies and gentlemen having qualified at degree and post graduate levels.

They include;

  4. Mr. Katabalwa Joseph
  5. Mr. Natumanya Jerosmeh (Head of Department)
  6. Mr. Okurotho Jude. T.
  7. Mr. Kakooza Jobson
  8. Mr. Tumusiime John Baptist

There are eleven members handling the subject with a teaching experience of five to twenty five years of service. The staff is innovative and has mastery of the subject matter both at O-level and A-level as attested by the performance of our candidates in the National Exams.

 3.Activities:

The major activity done by the department is the day to day teaching and evaluation of the learners.

The department also organizes internal history seminars whereby other schools are also invited to attend. This enhances the learners’ ability to compete favorably and also improves on their content coverage, external seminars are also conducted outside school and the staff plus the learners participate too. 

 4.Facilities:

The history department has relevant and up-to-date textbooks and pamphlets.  These are readily accessible in the school library. Every learner and teacher of history can access these books at will at any time when the library is open.

The text books cover both O-level and A-level syllabi for UNEB.
