SHACK BRASS BAND
As you all very well know that History repeats itself, it’s on the 20th, October, 2017, when the new brass band system was launched by the College Head teacher, Bro. Augustine Mugabo.
Before going any further, let’s remind ourselves of the History of this particular issue. Soon after the war that ousted Idi Amin in 1979, Masaka town looked like a ghost town with nearly half of the buildings in its main commercial Centre destroyed by the Tanzanian army and all shop looted St. Henry’s college just about 4Kilometers from Masaka town was no exception.
One of the lasting consequences of the liberation was against Idi Amin was the permanent disappearance of the college brass band where instruments were destroyed and others looted. And on a very sad note the college Brass band went in a coma from that time!
We thank the founders beginning with Fr. Laberge who did their part and are part of the story of St. Henry’s college Kitovu wherever they are, their souls must be tormented by absence of one of the famous activities by which the college was identified.
We in a special way thank the Old Boys championed by the current Deputy Head teacher, Mr. Busulwa Felix himself as an old Boy and other well-wishers who are still generously contributing towards this cause. It’s for great factor that, there is going to top into great talent that consistently yearning for it.
We are grateful to God for the wonderful gifts that he has bestowed onto our students who happily welcomed the brass band and by the way getting into the cause and contributing generously.
Our great parents, thank you so much for your generosity and support and please, continue with that spirit.
Our brass band has started contributing socially, spiritually greatly in our school and outside whereby at least two functions have been animated by the SHACK brass band. Namely, the brass band together with the college choir animated mass at Maryhill Girls' school Mbarara on 24th February, 2018, the launch of the Gaylord Hospital in Maganjo, the last send of Rev. Bro. Kyemera Anthony, the Brass band took part and everyone was astonished by the way boys were matching with their machines/instruments. See pictures above and below.
I would therefore thank the students in a special way who have heartily responded to the training sessions. Keep it up, for greater Horizons.
May God bless you as you support to see that the college attains the last Glory.
For greater Horizons, for God and my country.
Bro. KYAMANYWA RONALD

SHACK XAVERIAN MOVEMENT VISIT NAZARETH CHILDREN’S HOME IN NYENDO-MASAKA
The SHACK XAVERIAN movement made their visit to the Orphanage in Nyendo on Wednesday 26th, October, 2016. They were welcomed with tears of joy by the founder who still takes care of more than 27 children. The founder is also assisted by the manager who is also the member of the family. He was brought up by the orphanage until he finished university and decided to come back and take on his young brothers and sisters.
XAVERIAN MOVEMENT donated items to the orphanage which included bathing soap, washing soap, books, pens, pencils, jerry, tooth paste, tooth brushes, shoe polish, shoe brushed, biscuits, sugar, clothes, shoes among others.
While there, we visited various projects of the orphanage including gardens, piggery and poetry. Unfortunately, all these have been retarded by the increasing activities and we officially handed over the items to them. They were full of joy and excitement as children sang a song for us. We thank all who contributed for the cause. We encountered many challenges that the orphanage undergoes which include shortage of food, limited school requirements, health facilities, theft among others – The Xaverian President, Ainemukama Andrew.
SHACK XAVERIAN MOVEMENT was founded by St. Francis Xavier with the motto “Charity Forever”. Xaverian movement projects include collecting charity, cleaning the sick bay, taking care of the sick, maintaining order in the chapel, among others. It also gets involved in social activities including social gatherings, marching, athletics, bible quiz, singing and dancing among others. Xaverian movement of SHACK is led by their patron Mr. Atwiine John and guided by the Head teacher Bro. Mugabo Augustine who gives the movement the opportunity to operate fully in the college.
XAVERIAN movement attributes its success to the hard work, persistence and fear of God.
